Supporting XP Development with Scrum

Session duration: 90 minutes
Session type: simple talk
Intended Audience:
Presentation language: English
Description:
Many people doing eXtreme Programming have realized that XP doesn't answer
all questions that come up during a project. As a matter of fact, it
sometimes elegantly sidesteps some important ones. Being a software
development methodology, XP doesn't need to answer everything; nevertheless
it would be nice to have a compatible organizational methodology that does.
Scrum is a highly effective project management methodology, an agile,
lightweight process that can be used to manage and control software and
product development. Wrapping existing engineering practices, including
Extreme Programming, Scrum generates the benefits of agile development with
the advantages of a simple implementation. Scrum significantly increases
productivity while facilitating adaptive, empirical systems development.
This talk will explore the use of the XP set of tools and practices within
the organizational framework of a Scrum project, will show how the two
methodologies successfully complement each other, and will provide
suggestions on how to incorporate Scrum techniques in your project - whether eXtreme or not.
